"Annie Oakley Without a Horse: My Path to the Presidency", February 19, 2000
Scope and Contents
President Pamela Transue's presentation to the AAU on February 19, 2000 titled "Annie Oakley Without a Horse: My path to the Presidency," serves primarily as a presentation to the associated alumni of the University of Washington on the benefits of higher education and the merits of hardwork, as President Transue uses her own personal experiences to highlight how she overcame her own challenges as a high-school dropout to become the Special Assistant to the President of the University of Washington, William P. Gerberding, and the eventual President of the Tacoma Community College. Statistics and information on the importance of education economically and socially, as well as two overhead projector acetate transparencies are included in this packet as well. There are also several stricken pages included, quite possibly from an earlier draft version.
