Remarks for the dedication of the Jacob Lawrence mural, August 30, 1985
Scope and Contents
This document consists primarily of remarks made by President Gerberding of the University of Washington on the dedication of a mural to Jacob Lawrence, a professor of the School of Art who had recently been elected as one of the "Fifty Immortals" to the American Academy of Arts and Letters. It was thought that a comission of a mural by the artists in a central location like Meany Hall would be an excellent way to commemorate his mastery in the field. Solomon Katz, the Chairman of the Campus Art Collection Committee, signed this letter to William Gerberding. Physical copy and digital copy.
