Scope and Contents

Partnerships with Four Year institutions for a new bridge program for TCC and surrounding schools such as TESC Tacoma. The results of the Needs Assessment Survey conducted by the Development Office have been completed. Lilly Warnick and Karen Seinfeld retire. Exempt salaries are under consideration as duties are reassigned. On June 21 President Transue met with the Fuzhou delegation. On June 21 President Transue had lunch with Betsy Brenner. At the Lorna Ovena Initiative, President Transue met th chair of the South Sound Transit Board. As a follow-up, she met with Jim Walton, the Deputy City Manager, and Brian Ebersole, the Mayor. President Transue had a meeting with the instructional administrators to analyze faculty recruiting efforts. An executive staff retreat is being planned in the fall, that will be devloted to finding greater operational and programmatic efficiences in the TCC budget. TCC is also exploring a dropout recovery program with Tacoma Public Schools. The college has begun the task of winnowing down the budget requests for next year based on the priorities established from faculty, staff, and division managers. On June 1 there will be a retirement reception. Commencement exercises will be held on June 10 at the Tacoma Dome. WCCW Graduation Exercises were held on June 11, and Pamela Transue was the keynote speaker. On June 9 President Transue attended the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. On June 10 President Transue had a meeting with Dave Graybill, Executive Director of the Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce. Pamela Transue belongs to the United Way cabinet. On Saturday, June 26 President Transue was a guest at the McChord Air Force base for the airshow. On Monday, June 28 President Transue met the Mayor, Brian Ebersole at Stanley and Seaforts for a meeting. On June 29, the four colleges met with some individuals to discuss efforts at building a workable colaition for one-stop centers. Key Bank offered the college the use of a booth at the Thursday Farmers' Market in Tacoma to promote the college. June 24-25 was a meeting at the Presidents' Academy for WACTC in Bellingham, WA. The Regional ACCT Conference was held in lake Tahoe from June 3-5. President Transue attended the Minority Affairs luncheon there. Additional entries include an overview of several round tables and other meetings while at ACCT.
