Scope and Contents

Memorandum to Board Members from the President regarding campus events, community visits, and other current events related to the operations of TCC. Faculty Hiring Procedures see some changes in an effort to increase the candidate pool. A repeat overview of the December 29th Dinner with the Korean Women's Association. The Winter Quarter Enrollment numbers are posted. The multicultural Advisory Council met on January 7, regarding a mentoring program and speakers forum. The President's Council on Diversity met on January 14 to discuss accountability and academic success. President Pamela Transue provides a legislative update. On January 20, Doctor Transue attended a reception for Patty Murray. The Executive Staff Mid-Year Goal Review is determined to be making good progress after a January 7 meeting. Doctor Transue has submitted a proposal to IBM for an executive from IBM to work for TCC for a year with IBM picking up the costs. On January 21 Charles and Barbara Bingham hosted a gathering in support of "Our 1st Generation Scholars Campaign." University of Washington Tacoma hosted the Pleneurethics Society Board on January 13. The Pierce County Coordinating Council met on January 14 to assess the Pro-Tech program conducted by Bates Technical College. Capital Planning met on January 14 to discuss campus development. A Board Retreat was held on January 16-17 at the Gig Harbor Inn. On January 21 a consulting firm and several members of the college met to develop a plan for business and industry training opportunities. On that same day, The President of Tacoma Community College sat for an Interview with The Business Examiner. Charles Bingham is invited as the Commencement Speaker. On January 26 eleven community members met for Tea Time. On January 28 Doctor Transue attended the retirement reception and dinner for Kelso Gillenwater. Doctor Transue expects to attend a meeting for Women Community College CEOs. On February 4 at 7:00 PM Doctor Transue spoke at the City Club.
