Career Beginnings Program announcement, 1986-1987
Scope and Contents
This folder contains Career Beginnings Program announcements for the 1986-1987 academic year. The Tacoma Community College was selected as one of 25 total sites for the National Career Beginnings Program, that brought together educational institutions with local businesses to help low-income teens overcome barriers to achievement. The goal was to pair highly motivated high school students who are at risk of failing to finish their senior year, enter college or embark on a career with volunteer mentors from the business and professional communities. Additional documentation regarding tuition waiver plans, and a printed news article from the Tacoma News Tribune titled "TCC's Good Plan to Help Jobless" can also be accessed here.
