Historical Note

The Tacoma Community College Athletics Program started during the 1966-1967 school year with the creation of the cross-country, basketball, and track teams. Cross-country was coached by Mr. Edward Fisher. Cross-country placed 4th in state meet and had 3 firsts and 2 seconds during the season. Basketball was coached by John Heinrich, with assistant coach Jim Savitz, and had a 3-22 season. John Heinrich resigned during the winter quarter stating that he had too many other commitments to continue as head coach for the 1967-68 season. Don Moseid was hired shortly thereafter. Track was coached by Mr. Edward Fisher. The track team's record is not clear. Track - won first trophy for TCC by placing 3rd in the Yakima College Fruit Bowl Invitational Track Meet. TCC also introduced Tennis under coach Harland Malyon and Golf under coach Robert Dezell.
