Tacoma Community College Student Services records

These materials were generated by the Offices of Student Services, which provided resources such as advising, course registration, and the original Math Lab. The various departments moved around as follows: Math Lab was under Math Department; Tutoring Center under Student Services (approx. 1980 -); Writing Center under English Department (1982 -). Then, after the transition to Learning Resource Center (LRC): Math Lab became MARC (ca. 2006); Writing Center and Tutoring Center were combined to form Writing and Tutoring Center in 2005; also included CALLAB; Reading and Study Skills Center; and Business Education Center. In 2010, LRC was moved under Student Services, specifically under Student Development (Dean: Val Robertson). As of 2013, all are under umbrella title: Student Learning Centers. Additional services include Supplemental Instruction and Dedicated Tutoring. Also participant in Writing Reading and Research Across the Curriculum (W.R.R.A.C.). Over time this collection has also recived materials from the Corporate and Contenuing Education section, and a copy of the student handbook. Most of this original code of of student rights and responsibilities was written in 1984. This version of the code was updated in 1994 after which it lived in the Student Services Office. In 1995 the code was donated to the TCC Library for reference, and then deaccessioned from the library to the archive in 2017.
