Biographical note

Robert Reid Rhule was born in Olympia, Washington on September 8, 1924. He was a member of Olympia High Schools graduating class of 1942. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was stationed in both Texas and Boston. Upon being discharged, he enrolled at the College of Puget Sound. Following graduation, he taught both English and French at Stadium, Lincoln, and Wilson High Schools. Additionally, he worked for the Heidelberg Brewery to support his family. He received his Doctorate from Washington State University. he was a founding faculty member of the Tacoma Community College, and later the Dean of Students, and served the college as the President from 1974-1975. Upon his retirement, he lobbied on retirement issues in Olympia and Washington D.C. Robert also worked for Northwest Trek, and served on a number of boards, including AARP, NRTA, WSSRTA, PCSRA, Phi Beta Kappa, Tacoma - Pierce County Crime Stoppers, MultiCare Center for Healthy Living and Elks Lodge #174. Robert Reid Rhule passed away quietly with his family by his side on May 10, 2007 following a short illness.
