Biographical note
Charles L Edmunds was Born in Hood River, Oregon on January 31, 1910. Married to Ida, his wife and he had three sons and five grandchildren. Charles was very active throughout his life. He was a resident of Tacoma and Pierce County for 35 years. In that time, he was a business representative, a past president of the Tacoma chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and a past director at the national level of the American Rhododendron Society, proper. He was recognized as a fellow of the Royal Horticultural Society and was a member of the University of Washington Arboretum Foundation for 12 years. In addition to many of these responsibilities, he also found time to be a certified vocational school instructor for the #10 district, and a comissioner of the Tacoma Housing Authority for 4 years. He was even working on his Associate Degree in Social Science in 1968, the year he was named as chair.He remained active in many ad hoc committees for community advancement.
